Fister, Mariners Upset Rangers
Doug Fister threw seven fantastic innings of one-run ball, while the Seattle Mariners took the first-place Texas Rangers by surprise and posted a 2–1 win, Sunday. Josh Wilson also contributed with a go-ahead run in the seventh inning to seal the win.
Fister (6–12, 3.83) tossed nine hits, striking two with zero walks. He allowed only a single solo shot to Nelson Cruz in the sixth frame.
Franklin Gutierrez hit a RBI in the bottom of the frame, while Wilson knocked the go-ahead single on Tommy Hunter (12–4, 3.92), the Rangers starter.
In spite of giving just two runs over six strong innings, Hunter took the loss for Texas.
Being 26.5 games behind first-place Texas, Seattle (57–92) is at the bottom of the fragile AL West.
Leading with nine games over second-place Oakland, the Texas Rangers (83–65) are going to secure a position in the postseason for the first time since 1999.
Drawing nearly 76% of the betting action, the Texas Rangers (-123) were the clear favorites against Seattle among LinesMaker bettors. However, they failed to live up to the expectations of most MLB betting fans as they succumbed to a loss against the Mariners.
