Washington Beats MLB Betting Favorite Philadelphia
The Washington Nationals posted a 7–4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday, courtesy of Jayson Werth who had a homer, double and scored twice.
Drawing nearly 75% of the MLB betting action, the Philadelphia Phillies were the clear favorites against Washington among LinesMaker bettors. With the MLB lines at –126, Philadelphia disappointed the majority of bettors after losing to the Nationals (+119).
This was the first game of Werth against his former team Philadelphia left by him after four years as a free agent in the off-season to join Washington. Werth completed 2-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base and homered in the fifth inning to help the Nationals grab a 4–1 lead.
Wilson Ramos drove in two and hit two for Washington, which had a 5–5 record. Laynce Nix scored run and a pair of hits in the win.
Livan Hernandez (1–1) completed 6 2/3 innings and gave up one run on seven hits while striking out six with no walks for the Nationals.
Sean Burnett registered his third save and allowed one run in 1 2/3 innings. Joe Blanton (0–1), Philadelphia starter, gave up five runs on seven hits over six innings.
Ryan Howard had a homer for the Phillies, who lost third out of 10 contests. Placido Polanco contributed with two hits and an RBI in the loss.
