Washington Beats MLB Betting Favorite Philadelphia

The Wash­ing­ton Nation­als posted a 7–4 win over the Philadel­phia Phillies on Tues­day, cour­tesy of Jayson Werth who had a homer, dou­ble and scored twice.

Draw­ing nearly 75% of the MLB bet­ting action, the Philadel­phia Phillies were the clear favorites against Wash­ing­ton among Lines­Maker bet­tors. With the MLB lines at –126, Philadel­phia dis­ap­pointed the major­ity of bet­tors after los­ing to the Nation­als (+119).

This was the first game of Werth against his for­mer team Philadel­phia left by him after four years as a free agent in the off-season to join Wash­ing­ton. Werth com­pleted 2-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base and home­red in the fifth inning to help the Nation­als grab a 4–1 lead.

Wil­son Ramos drove in two and hit two for Wash­ing­ton, which had a 5–5 record. Laynce Nix scored run and a pair of hits in the win.

Livan Her­nan­dez (1–1) com­pleted 6 2/3 innings and gave up one run on seven hits while strik­ing out six with no walks for the Nationals.

Sean Bur­nett reg­is­tered his third save and allowed one run in 1 2/3 innings. Joe Blan­ton (0–1), Philadel­phia starter, gave up five runs on seven hits over six innings.

Ryan Howard had a homer for the Phillies, who lost third out of 10 con­tests. Placido Polanco con­tributed with two hits and an RBI in the loss.
