The 2009 College Football Bowl Schedule was just announced and the betting starts here! Here is the quick schedule of the games: December 19, New Mexico Bowl: Fresno State vs. Wyoming and St. Petersburg Bowl: UCF vs. Rutgers December 20, R+L Carriers Bowl: Southern Miss vs. Middle Tennessee. On December 22, Las Vegas Bowl: Oregon State vs. BYU. December 23, Poinsettia Bowl: Utah vs. Cal. On December 24, Hawaii Bowl: Nevada vs. SMU. On December 26 Little Caesars Bowl: Marshall vs. Ohio, Meineke Car Care Bowl: Pitt vs. North Carolina and Emerald...

Rider Squeaks By Marist

A quiet and unimpressive weekend for College hoops but the candidate for game of the week is the Broncs narrow 55–51 victory at home to the 0–6 Red Foxes. Justin Robinson and Ryan Thompson nailed late free throws for the win. It could have turned into a disastrous loss for the Broncs, with La Salle, Rutgers and a visit to Siena on the schedule in the coming weeks. Despite the victory, however, the Broncs are definitely struggling. Speculation is linking the struggles to their best player and NBA prospect Ryan Thompson. In his senior season,...

Lakers Outshine the Suns

Kobe Bryant’s 26 points led the Lakers to the NBA’s best record at 16–3. Betting action has the Lakers as 2 to 1 favorites to win the NBA Championship at LinesMaker and they proved that they are a serious threat beating the Suns 108 –88 on Sunday night. The defending NBA champions have a nine-game winning streak but their home-heavy early-season schedule was certainly a factor. Their last winning streak was seven straight. The defeated Suns now have 14 road games under their belt compared to the Lakers 15 played at home. However, it’s the first...

Saints and Colts Remain Undefeated

The Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints both remain undefeated in week 13 of NFL 2009. While it was an easy win for the Colts, the Saints found themselves working a little harder but ended up victorious, 33 – 30, in overtime aided by the Washington Redskins field goal kicker. The Colts hosted the Titans who had won five straight games until this defeat. The Titans were not living up to their name as the Colts marched down the field and scored a touchdown in less than two minutes. After a Titans field goal, to make it 7 – 3, the Colts stepped up the pace...

ACC Title Goes to Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech, 12th ranked in the nation, won the ACC championship game on Saturday. It was Jonathan Dwyer’s 15-yard touchdown run with 1:20 left that gave Georgia Tech their 39–34 victory over No. 25 Clemson. The Yellow Jackets (11–2) players were in good form throughout the game – Josh Nesbitt threw a 70-yard TD pass to DeMaryius Thomas, and Scott Blair kicked a title game-record four field goals. ACC player of the year C.J. Spiller rushed for 233 yards and four touchdowns for Clemson (8–5). Bettors at LinesMaker bet heavy on the game with 73% of the...

Golden Bears Outrun by Huskies

The betting action at LinesMaker leaned towards California with over 60% of the action but Washington upset bettors and fans alike with a 42 – 10 victory over the Golden Bears. California was looking for their third straight victory but were sorely disappointed and Washington avoided it third straight 8 loss season. Jake Locker made what could be his Washington farewell a memorable one, scoring three touchdowns in the first half as well as rushing for two more. The host Huskies closed out their redemptive first season under Steve Sarkisian...

Bears Beat Rams but Fail to Cover

The Chicago Bears had a 17–9 victory over the St Louis Rams but it’s not really anything to roar about. Defeating the Rams isn’t a great accomplishment considering they are one of the NFL’s worst teams. The Bears disappointed many LinesMaker bettors however, as they failed to cover the 9.5 point spread with nearly 60% of the betting action on them to cover. Quarterback Jay Cutler proved he still could hit a long pass, connecting with Devin Hester for a 48-yard completion, and Earl Bennett for a season-high 71-yarder. With linebacker Lance...

Boise State Meets TCU in Fiesta Bowl

Undefeated for the second consecutive season No. 6 Boise State will meet No. 3 TCU in the Fiesta Bowl, this will be the first time a BCS game, other than the championship game, has a matchup of unbeaten teams. On Saturday Doug Martin struck four touchdown runs for Boise State (13–0, 8–0 Western Athletic Conference) finished unbeaten with a 42–7 victory over New Mexico State on Saturday. Kellen Moore threw for 272 yards and a score for the Broncos, who finished 12–0 last year but were left out of the Bowl Championship Series. Next up, we will...

Smelling Like Roses – Ohio State vs. Oregon

New Year’s Day sees the Big Ten champion Buckeyes meeting the Pac-10-winning Ducks in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1. This game will make a pleasantly traditional finish to two remarkable seasons. The teams knew they would face each other since Thursday, when the No. 7 Ducks held off Oregon State 37–33 in the ‘Civil War’ to claim the Pac-10’s top postseason spot. The eighth-ranked Buckeyes already sealed their fifth straight Big Ten title and a California holiday with a win over Iowa back on Nov. 14. Both team have not made the Rose Bowl for sometime: Ohio...

Flyers Lose Carcillo

Having the fighting spirit is a good thing but not when the NHL suspends you. This is the case with Flyers forward Dan Carcillo who retaliated to a high stick with a cross check and then dropped his gloves and punched Washginton’s Matt Bradly on Saturday night. After receiving Carcillo’s punch Bradley fell to the ice and left the game. Bradley wasn’t penalized despite having started to remove his gloves. His role in the fight earned him a staggering 19 penalty minutes, a game misconduct and a four game suspension. Flyers GM Paul Holmgren isn’t happy...
