This sea­son the San Diego Charg­ers look to have lit­tle com­pe­ti­tion within the AFC West divi­sion. They could be head­ing for the title under head coach Norv Turner, though their strongest oppo­nents Kansas City and Den­ver have new quar­ter­backs and head coaches which could tip the bal­ance. Lines­Maker gives then odds for AFC Cham­pi­ons of +800.

Pre­dic­tions tell us that even though the Charg­ers will have an easy route to the play­offs, they never quite make the grade with a lack of team effort or chem­istry. Lines­Maker has them listed at +800 to win Super Bowl 2010. Per­haps Turner’s knowl­edge of offense can make up for other weak­nesses on the team, they were strong last year but play­ers were suf­fer­ing a lot of injuries now they are 100% fit and they have a top offen­sive this season.

The unques­tion­able strength and leader of the team is the out­spo­ken quar­ter­back Philip Rivers, he will have a pow­er­ful force behind him with the return of the top four receivers Anto­nio Gates, Vin­cent Jack­son, LaDain­ian Tom­lin­son and Chris Cham­bers as well as the top two rush­ers LaDain­ian Tom­lin­son, Dar­ren Spro­les. Ron Rivera is tak­ing over as defense coor­di­na­tor, he’s ambi­tious and was key to the Bear’s defense last year. All in all could swing either way for the charges this season.
