Rundown on NBA Action: Celtics Outdo Heat

The Boston Celtics defeated the Miami Heat 106–77 Tues­day night, claim­ing a 2–0 lead in their play­off series. This win came as a suprise, cour­tesy of Glen Davis. The Celtic’s sen­ti­men­tal leader Kevin Gar­nett, also known as the “Big Ticket” was serv­ing a one-game suspension.

This influ­enced the bet­ting odds. At Lines­Maker, the Boston Celtics have 14–1 odds of win­ning the NBA cham­pi­onship, whereas the Miami Heat is now off the bet­ting action, fol­low­ing their crush­ing defeat at the hands of Celtics.

Davis scored 23 points and eight rebounds, along with Ray Allen scor­ing a whop­ping 25 points in the third quar­ter. Dwyane Wade guided the “Heat” with 29 points.

The Heat man­aged a 29–25 lead over the Celtics, on a plunge by Jer­maine O’Neal. How­ever, Boston man­aged a 44–8 surge over the sub­se­quent 16½ min­utes to cover 69–37, topped by Allen’s 5 three-pointers in the period, with 5:38 left in the third quar­ter. Game 3 is slated for Fri­day night in Miami.

Other NBA play saw: Atlanta 96 Mil­wau­kee 86; Phoenix 119 Port­land 90; and Los Ange­les Lak­ers 95 Okla­homa City 92.

The Los Ange­les Lak­ers are among the front run­ners with 5–2 odds of win­ning the cham­pi­onship, along with Cleve­land Cav­a­liers at 5–4. The fate of the next game may move the Celtics up or down in the bet­ting action.
