Blackhawks Even Series With Predators
Making his first playoff win a shutout, Antti Niemi managed to stop all 23 shots he faced. This helped the Chicago Blackhawks bounce back and beat Nashville, 2–0, and level out their Western Conference quarterfinal series with the Predators.
Patrick Kane and Dave Bolland scored for Nashville. Kane and Patrick Sharp created 2-on-1. Pushing the puck down the right wing and drifting into the face-off circle, Kane’s wrist shot beat Rinne on the stick side, at 4:18 of the third.
The home team had a 13–5 shot lead in the scoreless first period. Chicago pulled ahead in second period with Bolland lifting a backhander over a sprawled Rinne at 8:44.
Interestingly, for the first time in NHL history all eight series started 1–1 this season.
