A Sheepish Tiger

Today a global audi­ence heard a 14-minute con­fes­sional from Tiger Woods in which he begged for­give­ness for his “self­ish and fool­ish” behav­ior. This was a heart-felt plea from Woods to help rec­tify his tainted rep­u­ta­tion per­son­ally and professionally.

The world’s rich­est sports­man has always been seen as a paragon of virtue – a man with true fam­ily val­ues and morals. This per­sona was recently shat­tered after a car crash out­side his Florida home his last Novem­ber that lead to the rev­e­la­tion that he had been less than faith­ful to his wife. The “Amer­i­can Dream” was shat­tered, spon­sors backed off and Woods hid from the pub­lic eye.

In front of a hand­picked audi­ence of 40 peo­ple – fam­ily, friends and agent he admit­ted: “I hurt my wife, my kids, my mother, my wife’s fam­ily, my friends, my foun­da­tion and kids all around the world who admired me.” Woods went on to say his behav­ior was “irre­spon­si­ble” and he con­fessed to being unfaith­ful and hav­ing affairs.

Woods hardly made any ref­er­ence his golf­ing career but did say he was unsure of he would return to the fair­way. The 34 year old is only five major cham­pi­onships away from becom­ing the most suc­cess­ful golfer in his­tory. He will now focus on rebuild­ing his rela­tion­ship with his wife and chil­dren. This is the year of the Tiger so hope­fully life can only get bet­ter for Woods from herein.
