Defending Champion Tiger Out from FedEx Tour

The PGA Tour will stage its grand finale with­out Tiger Woods, the world’s No.1 player. Tiger Woods failed to qual­ify for the FedEx Cup cham­pi­onship, and as a result, won’t be defend­ing the title that he won last year.

Sur­pris­ingly, he is not the only one to not qualify. Rickie Fowler also didn’t make it though he pre­sumed he would qual­ify as he left Cog Hill. Fowler fin­ished 32^nd, lurk­ing behind Bill Hass in the 31^st spot. Bo Van Pelt, at No. 30, was the last lucky man to make in.

The No.1 seed Matt Kuchar is the top dog and favorite at East Lake, which hap­pens to be close to his home. After suf­fer­ing from a viral infec­tion last week, he doubted that he wouldn’t pass through the BMW.

Kuchar and the other top five play­ers have the advan­tage next week. After reset­ting the points, the cur­rent posi­tions have Dustin John­son in sec­ond fol­lowed by Charley Hoff­man, Steve Stricker and Paul Casey to round up the top five. Jason Day, Luke Don­ald, Ernie Els, Mar­tin Laird and Phil Mick­el­son are the next five in the top 10 positions.

The win­ner of the FedEx Cup will get $10 mil­lion. Unfor­tu­nately, Woods will not be at East Lake, while Mick­el­son, Kuchar and the other 38 play­ers are going to hone their skills for the big one.

Look­ing at the golf bet­ting per­spec­tive, listed at +400 Steve Stricker is the cur­rent favorite at Lines­Maker to win the FedEx Cup cham­pi­onship. Shar­ing the sec­ond spot are Phil Mick­el­son and Paul Casey with +1000 odds.
