MLB Betting: San Francisco Defeats Texas in World Series Opener

The World Series opener, which was thought to be the bat­tle of pitch­ers turned out to be a slugfest, as Freddy Sanchez scored three dou­bles to help the San Fran­cisco Giants top the Texas Rangers, 11–7, in Game 1 of the World Series.

Draw­ing almost 70% of the MLB bet­ting action, the Texas Rangers were the clear favorites against San Fran­cisco among Lines­Maker bet­tors to win the World Series opener. With the bet­ting lines at –123, Texas turned out to be a huge dis­ap­point­ment for the major­ity of bet­tors as they lost to the Giants (+116).

Com­plet­ing 4-for-5 with three RBI’s, Sanchez is the first player ever to hit dou­bles at-bats in his first three World Series.

Vlad Guer­rero and Elvis Andrus reg­is­tered an RBI each in the sec­ond inning to help the Rangers in tak­ing an early 2–0 lead in the game. The game seemed to be favored on the Rangers’ side, as Lee was dealing.

How­ever, Sanchez went on to score the first run for the Giants in the third, help­ing San Fran­cisco to advance in the fifth.

Lee got his first-ever post­sea­son loss in his ninth attempt, as he gave up seven runs (six earned) in a mere 4 2–3 innings. The Texas field­ing wasn’t great either as they com­mit­ted four errors, includ­ing two by reg­u­lar des­ig­nated hit­ter Guer­rero who was made to play right field in the National League Park.

Juan Uribe hit a three-run blast with four runs, while Tim Lince­cum allowed four runs in 5 2–3 innings for the Giants. Giants Matt Cain will face C.J. Wil­son of Texas in Game 2 of the 106th World Series on Thursday.
