NASCAR Betting Preview

Mov­ing towards Chicagoland Speed­way this week­end, NASCAR entered the sec­ond half of the sea­son. All the top dri­vers of The Sprint Cup Series are revving up their engines for the LifeLock.com 400.

Lines­Maker has released the odds for the cham­pi­onship. The top favorites to run up front on Sat­ur­day are Jim­mie John­son, Denny Ham­lin, Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon.

Claim­ing the third posi­tion in the point stand­ings, John­son is vying for his fifth Sprint Cup Cham­pi­onship and is hugely favored by bet­tors with +350 odds. He had a tough time last week at Day­tona, where he fin­ished 31st owing to an acci­dent, break­ing a streak of four straight Top-10 fin­ishes. The No.45 dri­ver has posted an aver­age fin­ish­ing of 8:1 at Chicagoland, but is still to visit Vic­tory Lane.

Hav­ing odds of +600, Ham­lin also faced tough luck at the Coke Zero 400, drop­ping from fourth to 24th and has fallen off the pace for this tour­ney. The No.11 ride didn’t make it to the Top-10 in three straight races, post­ing an aver­age fin­ish of 24th. He has taken the track at Chicagoland just four times, fin­ish­ing fifth last sea­son at 19th.

Kyle on the other hand just missed fin­ish­ing in the Top 10, as his No. 18 car’s wheels came off. He posted four straight fin­ishes, with an aver­age of 27.5 at that stretch, includ­ing 40th-place at Day­tona. Busch has an aver­age fin­ish of 12.8 at Chicagoland, and is listed at +700 at Lines­Maker. He won in 2008, how­ever came in 33rd last season.

Sit­ting at +800, Gor­don is in sec­ond place in the points, thanks to his great per­for­mance at Day­tona last week­end, where he fin­ished third. Hav­ing an aver­age fin­ish of 9.2, he will offi­cially embark on his 600^th career NASCAR race at Chicagoland.
