The Santa Clara Bron­cos ral­lied over the Iona Gaels 76–69 Wednes­day, as Kevin Fos­ter led five Bron­cos play­ers to score in dou­ble fig­ures to claim the Col­lege Insider.com Tour­na­ment title.

Draw­ing around 75% of the NCAA bas­ket­ball bet­ting action, Santa Clara, with col­lege bas­ket­ball lines at +9.5, were the favorite against Iona among Lines­Maker bet­tors, if not the odd­mak­ers. The Bron­cos lived up to the expec­ta­tions of the major­ity of bet­tors by los­ing to the Gaels.

Santa Clara (24–14) got 15 points to grab a 30–19 advan­tage in the first half. Ben Dowdell scored 14 points and Marc Tra­solini added 12 for the Bron­cos, which fin­ished fourth in the West Coast Con­fer­ence. Santa Clara lost to St. Mary in the semi­fi­nals of the league tourney.

Mike Glover pulled in 22 points to pace Iona (25–12), which were the sec­ond best to Fair­field in the Metro Atlantic Conference’s reg­u­lar sea­son race. The Gaels lost to St. Peter in the finals of the league’s tournament.
