Kentucky Downs NCAA Basketball Betting Favorite North Carolina
The No. 4 Kentucky Wildcats defeated the second-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels 76–69 Sunday, even as Brandon Knight poured in 22 points.
Drawing almost 65% of the NCAA basketball betting action, the North Carolina Tar Heels, with college basketball lines at +1.5, were the favorites against Kentucky among LinesMaker bettors, if not the oddmakers. However, North Carolina turned out to be the cause of huge disappointment among the majority of bettors, as it lost to the points-favorite Wildcats.
Knight scored five from 3-point range and hauled down seven rebounds for Kentucky, which reached the NCAA Tournament Final Four for the first time since 1998, when they became the National Champions.
DeAndre Liggins pulled in 12 points, including one from 3-point territory with 35 seconds remaining for the Wildcats (29–8), who had 48.2 percent shooting from the field.
Josh Harrellson contributed 12 points and eight rebounds for Kentucky, which won the East Region final and will next play Connecticut, the West Region champion.
Tyler Zeller scored 21 points, including two free throws that helped North Carolina (29–8) to tie the game 67–67 with 3 minutes remaining. Harrison Barnes contributed with 18 points and six boards for the Tar Heels.
