MLB Betting: Underdog Reds Defeat Padres
To the delight of underdog betting fans, the Cincinnati Reds posted a 12–2 victory over San Diego on Sunday, courtesy of Chris Heisey who drove in four runs and a solo homer for the Reds.
Successfully averting a three-game sweep against the Padres, Cincinnati managed to at least tie for the National League Central title. The Reds were looking forward to claiming their first NL Central crown in 15 years, however, second place St. Louis did not let up, downing the Cubs to hang on.
Attracting nearly 60% of the MLB betting action, the San Diego Padres, with betting odds of –125, were the clear favorites over Cincinnati among LinesMaker bettors. However, the Padres turned out to be a setback for a majority of bettors, as they succumbed and lost at the hands of the Reds.
Joey Votto tossed a single hit while pulling in three runs. Meanwhile, Homer Bailey (4–3) allowed just two runs on five hits in seven innings.
Being eradicated from first position in the NL West, the Padres are a half-game behind the Giants, following San Francisco’s triumph over Colorado on Sunday. The World Series betting line on the Padres is currently at 15 — 1.
Clayton Richard (13–9) was tagged with the loss after giving up six runs on five hits over five-plus frames. Adrian Gonzalez and Yorvit Torrealba socked solo homers for San Diego.
