Tiger Woods to Play in the U.S. Open

Tiger Woods filed to play in the U.S. Open, by send­ing in the entry form for season’s sec­ond major. The tour­na­ment will be played June 17 – 20th at Peb­ble Beach, the same place where 10 years back he won by 15 shots tying the tour­na­ment scor­ing record.

Woods appeared in the Mas­ters, fol­low­ing a five-month hia­tus.  This was Wood’s first event fol­low­ing his much pub­li­cized, self-imposed expul­sion in Novem­ber 2009.

Spec­u­la­tion on Tiger’s next Tour appear­ance began imme­di­ately after in his first post-scandal start where he fin­ished fourth in the Mas­ters.  He also tied a Mas­ters record by mak­ing four eagles, includ­ing two dur­ing the final round.

In the wake of Woods highly antic­i­pated return, heavy bet­ting vol­ume has put him at 7–2 odds to win the U.S Open Golf Tournament.
