Big East Presidents to Meet Sunday

HARTFORD, Conn. —The presidents of the Big East member schools will discuss the future of the conference at a meeting this weekend, UConn President Susan Herbst said Wednesday. Herbst, in an email to The Associated Press, said the meeting in Washington on Sunday is a confidential gathering for conference presidents only and will not involve other university officials. “We have to talk about the future and how to go forward as a strong Big East,” she wrote. The two traded breaks in the third set but Kirilenko broke again to make it 5–4 before serving out the match. ”You never want...

What the Wizards Should Do When the Lockout Ends…

We’re trying to be optimistic about the lockout here at PBT, and as part of that we are looking at what all 30 NBA teams should do when the lockout ends. And we’re sticking with when, not if, it ends. To see the full Western Conference list, click here.Last season in Washington D.C.: For a team with a lot of young, talented players, the Wizards were just flat out bad. They won only 23 games, they were 28th in the NBA in offensive efficiency, 24th in offense. Defensively they blocked shots and not much else. On offense the Wizards didn’t take a lot of...

Costa was at Ferrari when Brawn and Schumacher were there during the team’s strongest era last decade. “I am delighted to announce that Aldo Costa and Geoff Willis will be joining the Mercedes GP Petronas team,” said Brawn. “Geoff is a highly respected engineer with over twenty years of Formula 1 experience, and we look forward to his arrival...

Oosthuizen Conquers Kingsbarns for Joint Lead at Dunhill Links

Having won the Open Championship at the home of golf a little more than a year ago, one might think Louis Oosthuizen is drawn to links golf. Oosthuizen again showed why with his opening round at Kingsbarns in the first round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on Thursday. Shooting 6-under 66, Oosthuizen is part of a 4-way tie for the lead at one of the European Tour’s most popular stops. “Just a nice week to come back and experience everything again, and you know, it was good fun  playing St. Andrews yesterday with my brother.  Yeah,...

Banana-Tosser Is “mortified” by His Racist Gesture, Is Pretty Foolish

Chris Moorhouse is going down in hockey history as the guy who’ll forever be known as the guy that made a disgusting, racist gesture towards Philadelphia’s Wayne Simmonds by tossing a banana at Simmonds during a shootout attempt. Whether Moorhouse is either completely ignorant of racist gestures, living a sheltered life, or adding “boldfaced liar” to his résumé, his attorney says that Moorhouse had no idea that such a tactic was viewed as being racist. The Globe And Mail has the details from Moorhouse’s attorney as to what his take is on the...

Andre Iguodala a Merrill Lynch Intern This Summer

Andre Iguodala has a lot of money to take care of — he’s already made $ 44 million in his career and he has about that much more coming to him the next three years (which is why the 76ers shop him around). Most players treat that much money like they’re in an episode of “Entourage” (the early years, before it sucked), so props to Iggy for learning how to take care of and grow that cash. He’s interning his summer at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, according to Marc Spears with Yahoo. Iguodala shadowed a venture capitalist and visited the New York...

Cincinnati’s football program committed secondary recruiting violations when members of its coaching staff placed 20 impermissible calls to 12 recruits, the NCAA’s Committee on Infractions ruled earlier today. The secondary violations were part of a much bigger set of infractions — both major and secondary — committed by the school’s athletic program, although most were associated with the women’s basketball program. In all, the self-reported violations included over 200 impermissible calls. As a result, Cincinnati...
