Spain Claims World Cup
FIFA World Cup 2010 has come to an end and the team which is on top of the world is the 2008 Euro champions Spain. Claiming their first FIFA World Cup, Spain becomes the eighth different nation to win the World Cup.
Spain started the battle as favorites in the betting action, while the underdogs, Holland, did their utmost but just came up short.
The person who had the maximum impact on the game was the referee Howard Webb, brandishing the yellow card left, right and center. The match was an edgy affair with hard fouls and cynical dives; a record number of yellow cards were given, while John Heitinga was sent off in extra-time. Both teams missed some great chances; Arjen Robben and Cesc Fabregas came up short when they were one on one with the goalie. However, Andres Iniesta netted in the 116th minute to give the Spain their first World Cup title.
The World Cup is now heading to the Americas, with Brazil hosting it in 2014. Tipped at +300, Brazil turns out to be the favorites in future odds; the home soil advantage along with their remarkable history in World Cups, will definitely help them have a leading edge over others. Their neighbors, Argentina are the second favorites, while the 2010 Champions, Spain, are third with +600 odds.
