Por­tu­gal ran riot at Green Point Sta­dium thrash­ing Korea DPR 7–0 and tak­ing a huge step towards a place in the Round of 16. A Raul Meire­les goal sep­a­rated the two teams after a closely con­tested first half, while Por­tu­gal lay siege at the Korean goal in the sec­ond half and dev­as­tated their defense with three goals within eight min­utes from Simao, Hugo Almeida and Tiago.

FIFA World Cup 2010 favorites Spain got their cam­paign back on track with a win against Hon­duras. The 2–0 score line does not do jus­tice to the way Spain played, the Cen­tral Amer­i­cans were the unlucky vic­tims as the Euro­pean cham­pi­ons returned to the kind of form which placed them among the pre-tournament favorites, Spain should have scored another 4–5 goals, but Villa missed a penalty and Tor­res looked com­pletely out of sorts.

In today’s matches, Mex­ico and Uruguay play each other to decide who is going to top Group A. Both teams have the same odds of 33–1 to progress. France faces the hosts in a do-or-die match. France’s chances have suf­fered greatly and have 150–1 odds of pro­gress­ing. Group B is also in con­tention as Argentina plays the Greeks, while South Korea plays 150–1  Nige­ria. Argentina is already through to the next round but the Kore­ans have odds of 200–1 and the Greeks 400–1.
