Underdog Ravens Shutdown Patriots
The New England Patriots were 3.5 point favorites against the Baltimore Ravens at LinesMaker and members were putting over 60% of the betting action on the Patriots to cover. Despite the strong consesus towards the Patriots it was those who bet on the Ravens who were cashing their betting tickets as the Ravens handled the Patriots 33–14.
Ray Lewis and a strong performance by the entire Ravens defense was a key factor shutting down the New England Patriots and Tom Brady. The game saw an 83-yard touchdown run by Ray Rice that was the second-longest post-season run from scrimmage in NFL history.
The Ravens offensive also supplied 33 points, including four offensive touchdowns bringing the Patriots season to an early and shocking end. The Patriots have closed out the season with an uncharacteristic effort which looked nothing like the previous teams from the last decade and now fans are left wondering what the future might hold for a team that entered the season as the odds-on favorite to win the Super Bowl.
