Minnesota Upsets NFL Betting Favorite Philadelphia
The Minnesota Vikings posted a 24–14 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday, thanks to rookie quarterback Joe Webb who highlighted his first NFL start by throwing for 195 yards.
Webb, who replaced Brett Favre after he missed the game following a concussion, completed 17-of-26 passes with a score for the Vikings.
Drawing nearly 70% of the NFL betting action, the Philadelphia Eagles were the clear favorites against Minnesota among LinesMaker bettors. With the NFL betting lines at –14, Philadelphia turned out to be a big setback for the majority of bettors as they lost to the Vikings.
Adrian Peterson went for 118 yards on 23 carries and a touchdown in the final 6:43 minutes to seal the win. This was the first victory since 1985 for the Vikings (6–9) in Philadelphia.
The Pro Bowl starter Michael Vick was limited to 25-of-43 passing for 263 yards by the Vikings’ defense.
Vick also scored on a touchdown with an interception for the NFC East champions.
Despite this loss, the Eagles (10–5) reserved the No. 3 seed position in the NFC.
