NFL Betting: New York Jets Overpower Minnesota
The New York Jets rallied to an impressive 29–20 win over Minnesota, thanks to Nick Folk and Dwight Lowery, who booted five field goals and returned an interception to score.
Attracting more than 55% of the NFL betting action, the Minnesota Vikings were the favorites with the majority of LinesMaker bettors, if not the oddmakers. However, they turned out to be a huge disappointment as they lost to the New York Jets (-4), the NFL betting line favorite.
Accounting for all 15 of the Jets’ first-half points, Folk went 5-for-5 on field goal attempts. The Jets survived three second-half touchdown passes by Minnesota’s Brett Favre to emerge as winners.
Bringing the Vikings within 2 points, Favre threw an 11-yard TD pass to Percy Harvin with 3:09 remaining. However, Lowery picked him off and walked untouched 26 yards with 1:30 left, sending New York (4–1) to their fourth straight win.
Mark Sanchez completed 21-of-44 for 191 yards, while LaDainian Tomlinson stacked 94 yards on 24 carries for the Jets.
Favre completed 501 for his career, certainly the best in NFL history, with his three TD passes. Playing his first game after he returned to Minnesota, Favre completed 14-of-34 for 264 yards with two TD’s to Harvin and a 37-yard score to Randy Moss. Adrian Peterson stacked 88 yards on 18 carries for the Vikings (1–3).
