Dallas Stars Not Shining
The Dallas Stars were shining when they beat Washington on Monday. Unfortunately, they could not repeat their great shoot-out performance when they met the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday.
Buffalo’s rookie Tyler Myers scored 55 seconds into the game and had three assists, but it was Thomas Vanek’s goal in the second period that sealed the Sabres a 5–3 victory over the Stars (29–25-12). The teams were tied at three after the first 20 minutes but Buffalo dominated the final two periods as the Stars could only manage to get six shots on Buffalo goalie Ryan Miller, who finished with 17 saves. This was the Sabres third straight win.
Coming out of the Olympic break the Stars have lost four of five important games and now the Western Conference play-off slot seems to be slipping away. Dallas has odds of 40 to 1 to win the conference at LinesMaker and now remain 5 points behind eight-place Calgary with odds of 30 to 1 and have no games in hand.
