NHL Betting: Capitals Poti Signs Deal
NHL betting fans picking the Capitals to win the Stanley Cup will be pleased that defenseman Tom Poti and Washington have agreed to the terms of a two-year extension on his contract Tuesday. According to sources, the contract will bring Poti $5.75 million over the 2011-12 and 2012–13 seasons.
Registering 4 goals and 20 assists, Poti had 42 penalty minutes in 70 games last season. Meanwhile the Capitals scored the top regular season record in the NHL. Moreover, Poti managed to use his body impressively to block 121 shots, second highest in the team, while he was 26 above.
The Capitals position on the NHL betting lines will be strengthened, as they have successfully retained a key defenseman for the coming season. Currently at LinesMaker, the betting line for the Washington Capitals are listed at 5 — 1 to win the 2010/2011 Stanley Cup.
In the words of vice president and general manager George McPhee, “Tom has played very well for the Washington Capitals and has been a key part of our success since he joined the team. We are pleased that he has made the commitment to remain a Capital.”
The 33-year old player has successfully completed nearly 800 career games with the Washington Capitals, the Oilers, the Rangers and the Islanders and has racked up 318 points over that duration.
