Steve Stricker is supportive of Fred Couples’ decision to appoint Tiger Woods to the Presidents Cup team heading to Australia next month. “I think it’s great. I talk to Tiger through texting every now and then. He’s really excited. We’re looking forward to it. I think he’ll be ready, too,” Stricker said to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. “He’ll find a way to get it done. When you play him one on one, he’ll find a way. Just like at the Ryder Cup last year. He trounced the guy he was playing (Francesco Molinari of Italy, 4 and 3, in singles). He...

Fox Saw Improvement in Tebow During Lions’ Rout of Broncos

Tim Tebow will keep his job as Denver Broncos starting quarterback — at least for one more week. One day after giving his embattled young quarterback a less than ringing endorsement following a humiliating 45–10 loss at home to the Lions, Broncos coach John Fox said he’s sticking with Tebow. “For this week, yes,” Fox said. Tebow said he doesn’t feel as though he’s on a week-to-week basis but that he’s not one to fret about the future anyway. “It’s just take it one day at a time, consistently trying to get better and not focusing...

Stanford TE Ertz Out, WR Owusu Uncertain

STANFORD, Calif. — Tight end Zach Ertz will most likely be sidelined for at least two weeks for No. 4 Stanford with a lower right leg injury, leaving one of the team’s most productive units shorthanded. The school announced Monday that Ertz is expected to miss Saturday’s game at Oregon State and the Nov. 12 matchup against sixth-ranked Oregon that could determine the Pac-12 North champion. However, he has not been completely ruled out next week when the Ducks (7–1, 5–0) visit Stanford Stadium. “I’ll be back before you know it!” Ertz wrote on his Twitter...

Another Hamilton, Massa Crash

For the fourth time this season, Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa collided as the two fought for position. This time, however, for the first time, it was Massa of Ferrari who received the penalty. This was practically the only incident worth noticing in an otherwise tame race, although there was a little bit of action at the start, especially when Kamui Kobayasi ran his Sauber into the Marussia Virgin of Timo Glock, causing the latter to retire. It seems like we can’t go a week without someone accusing someone else of playing dirty football. No. 8 Arkansas Rallies Again, Tops Vandy

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The eighth-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks know they have plenty of talent. That’s what makes falling behind early and having to rally for victory so frustrating.
