VANCOUVER – Police on Mon­day said they’ve rec­om­mended charges against 60 indi­vid­u­als for their actions dur­ing the June 15 Stan­ley Cup riot in down­town Vancouver.

Police rec­om­mended a total of 163 charges.

Of the 50 men and 10 women fac­ing charges, the aver­age age is 21. The youngest sus­pect is a 16-year-old boy. The old­est sus­pect is a 52-year-old man who is known to police and has a lengthy crim­i­nal his­tory of theft, break and enter and sex offences.

While names have been with­held, police released details of some cases.

In one of them, a 23-year-old Sur­rey, B.C., woman faces charges of par­tic­i­pat­ing in a riot, mis­chief and arson for allegedly set­ting fire to a police cruiser. Police said footage also showed her smash­ing the police car sev­eral times with a piece of wood.

While Crown spokesman Neil McKen­zie said there is no time­line for when charges will be com­pleted, some sus­pects could be in court by December.
