The pace of the movie is even and, in the end, Mar­tin agrees to build a sta­dium for the Lit­tle League of the town with funds he stole from the towns­peo­ple for that very same pur­pose. He has the sta­dium named after him and the movie ends with fam­ily mem­bers work­ing the con­ces­sions at the Sta­dium. His aunt from NYC approaches Mr. Umpire and makes him an offer he couldn’t refuse. She had bet on one of the teams and wished to ensure her­self of a win.

I took the time to relate this story because it shows that sports wager­ing has no bound­aries. Sports wager­ing is a nation­wide phe­nom­e­non that is grow­ing each and every year. The sports­book casi­nos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City are burst­ing with action, and the cyber sports­book world in sports wager­ing has exceeded all expec­ta­tions. There are lit­er­ally thou­sands of sites for sports wager­ing around the coun­try and world wide through the aus­pices of hun­dreds of foreign-based cyber sports­book sites.

If you were to review today’s plays in your daily paper, you would find at least three pages devoted to sports wager­ing. There are eleven base­ball games on tap, four NBA Bas­ket­ball play­off con­tests, three NHL play­off scraps as well as Stan­ley Cup Cham­pion odds.
