Bargain DeJesus Signing a Good Start for Epstein in Chicago

Bargain DeJesus signing a good start for Epstein in Chicago Matthew Pouliot Nov 30, 2011, 6:30 PM EST 2 Comments This isn’t the first time Theo Epstein tried to land David DeJesus. As Boston’s general manager, Epstein attempted to pick up DeJesus from the Royals both before the 2010 trade deadline and again after the season. Epstein missed out both times, though, and DeJesus was instead dealt to Oakland, where he turned in his most disappointing season to date as the A’s primary right fielder. Of course, Epstein didn’t let that series of events...

Chocolate Al Shirts to Raise Money for Danny Miller Foundation

A writer at Cage Potato’s daughter drew a picture of her father meeting “Chocolate Al” at an MMA seminar. (Say it out loud … maybe one more time … there it is!) CP took that adorable story and turned it into a t-shirt. Not only is it cool, but every shirt sold will raise between $ 14 and $ 17 for Danny Miller, the infant son of UFC fighter Dan Miller who needs help getting a life-saving surgery. It comes in three colors. Buy it here for $ 23. BetLM's sports betting news features unique sports betting articles as well as current sports news compiled from leading wire services. Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post reports that Miller had thumb surgery Tuesday to repair torn ligaments in his thumb. He was hurt sometime in the fourth quarter of the 16–13 win over the Chargers, but insisted on returning to the game after getting the thumb taped. Nine 2012 Driver Slots Open on FIA Entry List

Formula One racing’s governing body, the FIA, has published the current 2012 championship entry list. As already confirmed, three constructors change their names next season — Renault become Lotus, Lotus become Caterham, and Virgin become Marussia. Five teams have yet to finalise their driver line-ups, with Marussia’s Charles Pic the only rookie confirmed so far. Despite having been announced by HRT, Spanish veteran Pedro de la Rosa is absent from the list, and the team — who ran Cosworth power this year and last — have no engine supplier listed. Ron Wilson Deserves Contract Extension

If Ron Wilson had the personality of a Barry Trotz or Kirk Muller there would probably be a significant clamour in Leafs Nation for GM Brian Burke to offer him a contract extension. But Wilson’s not always the warmest guy on the planet and he tends to rub some people the wrong way, so there has not been a lot of external support for a new deal for Wilson. But by all accounts, Wilson deserves an extension, and it appears as though Burke is going to give him one. As Big Burkie points out on his Twitter account, the Leafs are 32–17-8 since last year’s all-star...

No, ‘Golf’ Does Not Stand for ‘Gentlemen Only, Ladies Forbidden’

Does golf have urban legends? Given that it’s golf, we should probably call them suburban legends. But yes, golf has them — those myths, half-truths and untruths that just won’t go away no matter how many times they are batted down. Probably the most persistent is the myth that the word “golf” is an acronym that stands for “gentlemen only, ladies forbidden.” It’s not and it doesn’t. This suburban legend regularly makes the rounds on Twitter these days. But no matter how many folks repeat it, it’s still not true. See:FAQ: What is...

Texans Bring in Delhomme to Back Up New Starting QB Yates

Veteran quarterback Jake Delhomme signed with the Houston Texans, his agent told The Associated Press on Tuesday, shortly after a league source had confirmed the move to NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora. Barwin joins ‘Cover Two Podcast’ Texans coach Gary Kubiak later shared his excitement about adding Delhomme, telling the Houston Chronicle that the quarterback will “fit in perfectly with what we were looking for.” “He’s a leader and a good person,” Kubiak said. “He’s played in big games. He’s got West Coast (offense) verbiage...
