Giants WR Cruz Misses Practice With Hip Injury

Wide receiver Vic­tor Cruz was added to the Giants’ prac­tice report on Wednes­day with a hip issue, accord­ing to the Star-Ledger.

Cruz, the team’s lead­ing receiver with 55 catches, scored two touch­downs in the Giants’ 49–24 loss loss the the New Orleans Saints on Mon­day night. The Giants will face the unde­feated Green Bay Pack­ers on Sunday.

The team placed offen­sive tackle Will Beatty (eye) on injured reserve Wednes­day, accord­ing to Newsday.

Beatty under­went surgery on Thurs­day to repair a detached retina. He sat out the team’s loss to the Saints as left guard David Diehl moved over to left tackle.

Defen­sive end Justin Tuck, who had been ham­pered by neck and groin injuries, was only listed as hav­ing an ankle injury.

Giants coach Tom Cough­lin said Osi Umenyiora (ankle) was unlikely to play against the Pack­ers. Umenyiora is expected to miss a sig­nif­i­cant amount of time after leav­ing Monday’s game with the injury.

The Giants signed line­backer Chase Black­burn to take Beatty’s ros­ter spot.
