Wigginton’s Sac Fly Leads Orioles to Win

Ty Wigginton’s sacrifice fly in the 11th inning Thursday helped in breaking the final tie of the game, as the Baltimore Orioles bested the Kansas City Royals 6–5 to snap a five-game losing streak. Nick Markakis led off the third with his ninth homer for the Orioles. The Royals managed a 5–3 lead in the fourth inning, with two-run single by Yuniesky Betancourt. However, a homer by Corey Patterson helped Baltimore to tie in the eighth; they won it by scratching out a run against Blake Wood (0–2), the fifth Kansas City pitcher, in the 11th. Drawing...

Green Bay Packers Betting Preview

Except for the fact that Green Bay could not thrash their previous quarterback problem in the regular season, they would have probably been the team battling the Saints in the NFC Championship Game in 2009. Nevertheless, the Packers still had an extraordinary season, driven by second year quarterback Aaron Rodgers. While being the starting quarterback for the team, Rodgers threw for 4,000 yards in the first two seasons, only to become the second man in the NFL history to do so. Together with a defense that only passed 284.4 yards per...

Querrey Bested Anderson, Reaches Quarters in LA

Defending champion Sam Querrey outlasted Kevin Anderson, 7–6 (10–8), 4–6, 6–0 in over two hours on the hard courts at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. Querrey, the second seed, required three sets to thrash South African Anderson in the second round of the $700,000 Farmers Classic tennis event. A three-time winner on the ATP World Tour this season, Querrey defeated Aussie Carsten Ball in LA finale last year as well. At LinesMaker, Querrey (-250) was favored by the bettors to beat Anderson; and to their delight, he did exactly what was expected from...

New Orleans Saints Betting Preview

The New Orleans Saints witnessed an exuberant season in 2009, as they started by winning the NFC South, then the NFC Championship, and then moved on to become the Super Bowl champions. The win was an exceptional comeback for the team as well as the city, which was wrecked by Hurricane Katrina not long ago. The Saints possess conceivably the most volatile offense in the NFL, led by quarterback Drew Brees, who is young as ever and already reckoned as one of the top quarterbacks in the history of the NFL. As far as their repeat feat as Super Bowl champs...

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Betting Preview

Tampa Bay has clearly entered a transformation stage that everyone in Florida is well aware is going to take some more time to complete. Everyone at Raymond James Stadium will vouch for the fact that this team is still not good enough and consequently the expectations for the Bucs this season are limited. They need to show massive improvements in all aspects of the game. In order to improve a rush attack that came last in the league rankings, they will need to call upon the play of a couple of rookie defensive tackles. Although quarterback Josh Freeman...

Carolina Panthers Betting Review

The Panthers will definitely be an interesting team to look forward to throughout the season. The quarterback battle is still going on, after they cut quarterback Jake Delhomme just over a year after giving him a worthwhile contract extension. Moreover, the defense will have to find a way to deal with the loss of defensive end Julius Peppers to free agency. Without a doubt, this squad will keep the football spirit alive, but what needs to be seen is whether they have adequate passing attack to stand up or not? Except for Running Backs DeAngelo...

Cleveland Downed the Yankees, 4–1

Josh Tomlin pitched into the eighth inning to tame the Yankees in his major league debut Tuesday, as the Cleveland Indians overwhelmed New York 4–1. Matt LaPorta also contributed with two RBI’s for the Indians. Tomlin (1–0) replaced the injured Aaron Laffey after being evoked from Class AAA Columbus. He baffled the Bombers while limiting them to one run on three hits, while walking none and fanning two. Inspite of giving up a pair of hits in the ninth, Carlos Perez collected his 10th save. Cleveland scored on catcher Francisco Cervelli’s slip-up...

Allianz Suisse Open Gstaad Betting Preview

This week tennis fans will see some interesting matches in the Allianz Suisse Open in Gstaad, Switzerland. The balanced Gstaad draw features, Youzhny, Montanes, and Richard Gasquet in the top half along with Bellucci and Almagro in the bottom half. The strong unseeded floaters including Andrey Golubev, Igor Andreev and Jeremy Chardy are also spread out evenly. The top-seed in the tourney, Mikhail Youzhny should sail through conveniently, as Tommy Robredo, who is the only major clay-court threat in his quarter, is not in good form. The defending champion Thomaz...

Atlanta Falcons Betting Preview

The Atlanta Falcons made the transition from being the laughing stock of the NFL to becoming a team that constituted the playoffs, two years back. Even though facing a bit of a step back last year with a 9–7 season, they still managed to prove their worth and sustained their place amongst the playoff caliber teams every year. The second year of the Matt Ryan era came out pretty well, and much more is expected from the former No.1 pick in the NFL Draft this year. The rushing defense of Atlanta was somewhat slowed in 2009 due to an injury to running back...

Rangers Overpower Tigers

Everything seems to be falling into place for the Texas Rangers, as they overwhelmed the Detroit Tigers, 8–0, at Comerica Park on Tuesday. Tommy Hunter’s masterpiece in the form of a three-hitter for seven innings dominated the Tigers along with improving his record to 7–0. Ian Kinsler contributed a triple with three-run homer. Detroit starter Armando Galarraga gave up two runs in the first inning. Elvis Andrus started the game with a single and was followed by a triple run homer by Kinsler, scoring on Josh Hamilton’s sacrifice fly. The Rangers continued...
