Doug Fis­ter threw seven fan­tas­tic innings of one-run ball, while the Seat­tle Mariners took the first-place Texas Rangers by sur­prise and posted a 2–1 win, Sun­day. Josh Wil­son also con­tributed with a go-ahead run in the sev­enth inning to seal the win.

Fis­ter (6–12, 3.83) tossed nine hits, strik­ing two with zero walks. He allowed only a sin­gle solo shot to Nel­son Cruz in the sixth frame.

Franklin Gutier­rez hit a RBI in the bot­tom of the frame, while Wil­son knocked the go-ahead sin­gle on Tommy Hunter (12–4, 3.92), the Rangers starter.

In spite of giv­ing just two runs over six strong innings, Hunter took the loss for Texas.

Being 26.5 games behind first-place Texas, Seat­tle (57–92) is at the bot­tom of the frag­ile AL West.

Lead­ing with nine games over second-place Oak­land, the Texas Rangers (83–65) are going to secure a posi­tion in the post­sea­son for the first time since 1999.

Draw­ing nearly 76% of the bet­ting action, the Texas Rangers (-123) were the clear favorites against Seat­tle among Lines­Maker bet­tors. How­ever, they failed to live up to the expec­ta­tions of most MLB bet­ting fans as they suc­cumbed to a loss against the Mariners.
