NFL Betting Favorite Pittsburgh Tops New York Jets

The Pitts­burgh Steel­ers downed the New York Jets 24–19 on Sun­day, as cor­ner­back William Gay returned a fum­ble for a score to help Pitts­burgh win the AFC championship.

Draw­ing almost 60% of the NFL bet­ting action, the Pitts­burgh Steel­ers were the clear favorites against New York among Lines­Maker bet­tors. With the NFL lines at –4, Pitts­burgh delighted the major­ity of bet­tors by defeat­ing the Jets.

Gay grabbed a mis­cue by Mark Sanchez, New York quar­ter­back, and rushed 19 yards for scor­ing on a touch­down with 1:13 remain­ing in half­time to help Pitts­burgh take a 24–0 lead.

The Steel­ers pre­vented New York to rally in the second-half and claimed the AFC title for the third time in six years.  Pitts­burgh will play the Green Bay Pack­ers for NFL title in Super Bowl XLV on Feb. 6 in Arling­ton, Texas.

Ben Roeth­lis­berger com­pleted 10-of-19 pass­ing through the air for 133 yards with a pair of inter­cep­tions and no touch­downs for the Steel­ers. Rashard Menden­hall rushed for 121 yards on 27 car­ries and scored on a touch­down for Pittsburgh.

Con­nect­ing for 20-of-33 for 233 yards, Sanchez  scored on a pair of touch­down for New York, which included tosses to San­to­nio Holmes and Jer­ri­cho Cotch­ery in second-half. Dustin Keller caught eight for 64 for the Jets, who lost the AFC cham­pi­onship for the sec­ond time in a row.
