NFL Betting: Green Bay Trounces Pittsburgh in Super Bowl XLV
The Green Bay Packers brought home the Vince Lombardi Trophy on Sunday as they beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 31–25 in Super Bowl XLV. Aaron Rodgers tossed three touchdown passes to help seal the win as Green Bay recorded their fourth Super Bowl win.
Attracting nearly 55% of the NFL betting action, the Pittsburgh Steelers, with the betting lines at +3, were the favorites against Green Bay among LinesMaker bettors, if not the oddmakers. Pittsburgh disappointed the majority of bettors as they lost to the Packers.
Finishing 24-of-39 passes for 304 yards, Rodgers connected with Greg Jennings on 21-yard and 8-yard touchdowns and with Jordy Nelson on a 29-yard toss. Rodgers also scored on three Steelers turnovers.
The Packers led through the entire game, however the Steelers came within 3 points at 28–25 with 7 1/2 min left in the fourth, as Ben Roethlisberger hit Mike Wallace on a 25-yard touchdown pass and scored on a 2-point conversion. Roethlisberger completed 25-of-40 passes for 263 yards and two touchdowns.
In return, Rodgers rushed Green Bay 70 yards on the following possession, while Mason Crosby had a 23-yard field goal in the last 2:07 minutes. Nelson hauled down nine for 140 yards for the Packers, who claimed their first Super Bowl title since 1996.
Wallace grabbed nine passes for 89 yards and Hines Ward caught seven with a touchdown for the Steelers.
