Preakness Stakes Betting: Animal Kingdom Among Few Derby Runners to Contend
The Preakness Stakes Betting enthusiasts are not much happy about the fact that no more than four of the 18 horses who ran in the 137th Kentucky Derby will visit the Pimlico on May 21 for the Preakness Stakes. Fortunately, Animal Kingdom, who won the Kentucky Derby 2011 by defeating other 18 3-year-olds on Saturday, will return for the second leg of the Triple Crown Betting.
Moreover, finishing eighth as the favorite in the Derby, Dialed In will be among the top competitors of Animal Kingdom for a $5.5 million bonus in the Preakness Stakes. The third Derby runner up Mucho Macho Man and Shackleford who finished fourth, are also likely to compete in Preakness along with sixth place Santiva.
Other horses that competed in the Kentucky Derby will not run for the Triple Crown trail, either due to injury like Archarcharch and Comma to the Top or because they are waiting for the final leg of the Triple Crown. Derby runner up Nehro is among the latter group and will be a part of the June 11 Belmont Stakes. So, if you are not too keen about Preakness Stakes betting, then don’t worry the final leg of Triple Crown betting will also be an event to look out for.
