Kentucky Derby Betting: Toby’s Corner Out of the Race

Much to the dis­ap­point­ment of the Ken­tucky Derby bet­ting fans, Toby’s Cor­ner will not run in the race on Sat­ur­day. Accord­ing to the trainer Gra­ham Motion, the sur­prise win­ner in the Wood Memo­r­ial has come up lame.

On Tues­day morn­ing the Steeple­chase Times vet­eri­nar­ian Dean Richard­son, who offi­cially took care of Bar­baro who won the 2006 Ken­tucky Derby race,  informed the trainer Motion that the colt came out lame in the left hind leg.

Toby’s Cor­ner defeated the horse bet­ting favorite Uncle Mo in the Wood Memo­r­ial, which is con­sid­ered an impor­tant race in the run-up to the first leg of Triple Crown race.

Toby’s Cor­ner was owned by Dianne Cot­ter and the chest­nut colt has won four of six career starts for $722,240. The colt had even emerged win­ner in the Whirl­away Stakes at Aque­duct in Feb­ru­ary and came out as the third run­ner up in the Gotham Stakes, which was held four weeks later.

This news have dis­heart­ened the horse bet­ting enthu­si­asts, who  thought the 3-year-old colt to be a great pick and were plan­ning to bet on Toby’s Cor­ner after he won the race at the Wood Memorial.

Toby’s Cor­ner had 10 to 1 Ken­tucky Derby odds at Lines­Maker for the Ken­tucky Derby race slated for Sat­ur­day, 7^th of May. Now the Ken­tucky Derby bet­ting enthu­si­ast will con­sider Lex­ing­ton Stakes win­ner Derby Kit­ten, whose chances of win­ning have prob­a­bly become bet­ter with Toby’s Cor­ner no longer com­pet­ing for derby.
