Accord­ing to the lat­est reports from mul­ti­ple media sources, Cliff Lee, the esteemed free-agent pitcher, has signed a five year con­tract with the Philadel­phia Phillies.

Speak­ing with a MLB bet­ting per­spec­tive, the MLB bet­ting odds of Philadel­phia are likely to improve with Lee join­ing them in the com­ing sea­son. Cur­rently, the Philadel­phia Phillies are the sec­ond favorite, with the bet­ting lines at +600, at Lines­Maker to suc­ceed in the 2011 World Series Cham­pi­onship. The top-favorite for the 2011 World Series are the New York Yan­kees with +250 odds.

Appar­ently, the left-handed starter has turned down the offers from the Texas Rangers and the New York Yan­kees and decided to return with the Phillies.

The 32-year-old hurler helped the Texas Rangers to reach to the Amer­i­can League crown last sea­son, prior to los­ing to the San Fran­cisco Giants, twice in the World Series.

Jon Daniels, Texas Gen­eral Man­ager informed MLB.com that Lee has spec­i­fied that he won’t be return­ing to the club. More­over, YES Net­work report­edly said that Lee have rejected the Yan­kees offer as well.

Lee recorded a 3.18 ERA over 28 starts in 2010, and even helped Phillies in mak­ing to the 2009 World Series against the Yankees.
