Niners Beat Vikings in NFL Preseason Tilt

Anthony Dixon reg­is­tered a touch­down and claimed 20 car­ries for 51 yards, as the San Fran­cisco 49ers bested the Min­nesota Vikings 15–10 Sun­day in a NFL pre­sea­son tilt.

Brett Favre fin­ished one pass and got clob­bered on a sack in his highly antic­i­pated first game ‘back’ with the Vikings. Being a Niner-nemesis since his Green Bay days, Favre was jeered by the crowd as he jogged onto the field for the first time in the open­ing quar­ter. He took four snaps in the series while try­ing to out­shine his last years’ amaz­ing per­for­mance for Minnesota.

The 40-year old leg­endary quar­ter­back com­pleted a 13-yard pass to Adrian Peter­son after get­ting the ball, before being sacked by Pro Bowl line­backer Patrick Willis two plays later. Still recu­per­at­ing from his ankle surgery, Favre was ulti­mately replaced by backup Tar­varis Jackson.

Mean­while, rebound­ing from a poor per­for­mance in a win at Indi­anapo­lis, 49ers’ quar­ter­back Alex Smith went 9-of-13 for 88 yards in a solid first half. In the 37–17 win, David Carr and Nate Davis ral­lied the Nin­ers to 34 straight points.

Draw­ing nearly 51 % of the bet­ting action, the San Fran­cisco 49ers were 2.5 point favorites against Min­nesota in the NFL Pre­sea­son bet­ting action. They did not dis­ap­point bet­tors as they went on to top­ple the Vikings.
