Philip Rivers also com­pleted 22-of-39 passes for 99 yards and two touch­downs. He also attempted to take San Diego (0–1) from their own 33 to the Chiefs four in a late drive with a 12-yard com­ple­tion to Leg­edu Naa­nee on 4^th–and-3.  How­ever, he failed to score as Kansas City retrieved the ball with 33 sec­onds remaining.

Attract­ing almost 72% of the bet­ting action,the San Diego Charg­ers were the clear favorites against Kansas City among Lines­Maker bet­tors. How­ever, thwart­ing the major­ity of bet­tors, the under­dog Kansas City Chiefs (+4) defeated the NFL bet­ting favorites.
