Fans saw Min­nesota quar­ter back Brett Farve get emo­tional on the field as the Vikings clinched a date with the New Orleans Saints next week­end. Favre and the Vikings were superb in a 34–3 thrash­ing of Dal­las. Injuries Big Pain for Lakers

The Lak­ers  not only lost the game on Tues­day at the AT&T cen­tre, 105 – 85 to the San Anto­nio Spurs, but they also lost Kobe Bryant. Bryant left the game in the third quar­ter with back spasms and did not return for the fourth. The Lak­ers (28–9) have lost four games in a row on the road and three out of four over­all. Huff Signs with Giants

The Giants are hop­ing to add a punch to the mid­dle of their bat­ting order by sign­ing up free-agent first base­man and left-handed hit­ter Aubrey Huff. It’s reported that the Giants agreed to pay Huff $3 mil­lion for 2010. College Basketball Loses Star

Tues­day was a sad day for Col­lege Bas­ket­ball with the death Bill Mul­li­gan. His nine-year tenure as River­side City College’s bas­ket­ball coach kick-started a career that put him in the Cal­i­for­nia Com­mu­nity Col­lege Men’s Bas­ket­ball Hall of Fame. He was 79.  Mul­li­gan was hired by RCC in 1966 where he com­piled a 196–87 record in nine sea­sons, win­ning five con­fer­ence titles. His coach­ing pro­duced a crowd-pleasing, fast-paced style of bas­ket­ball and he was said to have one of the “great­est offen­sive” minds ever. The play­ers he coached... 

Payback is a B*tch for Burrows

The NHL’s top dis­ci­pli­nar­ian, Colin Camp­bell, is review­ing Vancouver’s Alexan­dre Bur­rows claim that ref­eree Stephane Auger made pay­back calls against him. Bur­rows is accus­ing the ref­eree of tar­get­ing him in the Canucks’ 3–2 loss to Nashville in Van­cou­ver on Mon­day. As many crit­ics have noted, “mind numb­ingly bor­ing” may well be the best way to describe the New York Jets vic­tory over the Cincin­nati Ben­gals in the AFC Wild Card play­off game.
