Nebraska Going Big for Conference Debut

Nebraska is known for hav­ing some of the best fans in col­lege foot­ball. When the Huskers travel to Wis­con­sin for their first Big Ten road game tomor­row, their fan base is expected to be out in full force.

Even if it means hav­ing to watch the game from a local bar.

Wis­con­sin ath­letic direc­tor Barry Alvarez, who played at Nebraska, said he expects as many as 30,000 Big Red faith­ful to show up, almost all of which prob­a­bly won’t even get inside Camp Ran­dall Sta­dium to see the game. Big Ten rules allot vis­it­ing teams 3,000 tick­ets for road games; Nebraska report­edly requested around 20,000.

No mat­ter who gets in, that’s quite a debut.

I remem­ber a sim­i­lar scene dur­ing last year’s Big 12 Cham­pi­onship Game between the Huskers and Okla­homa. Nebraska fans were loud, proud and in mass quantities.

It should be a great night­cap to the Big Ten’s first week­end of con­fer­ence play.
