Fiesta Bowl Odds

The Fiesta Bowl Odds Revealed
The 2007 Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, California was a riveting story of two teams, Boise State and Oklahoma, vying for a piece of championship glory. A story of a mid major team trying to beat one of the most storied collegiate programs in all of sports, it was a classic story with David and Goliath proportions. With a New York’s Day schedule, Oklahoma jumped out to the early lead as eight point favorites. Fiesta Bowl odds became narrower as gambling audiences bet on one side dramatically, moving the spread down to the seven. Smart gamblers knew that these Fiesta Bowl odds were created because the Sooners were 9–3 against the spread, with Boise State covering the spread only half of the time.

Fiesta Bowl odds were run by some of the most talented players in the game coming from both sides. In 2007, Adrian Peterson (now with the Minnesota Vikings) ran the running back position for Oklahoma facing an underrated Boise State running back in Ian Johnson. In addition, two solid quarterbacks in Jared Zabransky and Paul Thompson (who was relegated to start status after Rhett Bomar got in academic trouble earlier in the season) went head to head. What was interesting about the Fiesta Bowl odds was that Oklahoma lost its starting quarterback before the season even started along with Adrian Peterson to a broken collarbone. In addition, other critical players were missing from the bowl game that could have really made an impact with the way Fiesta Bowl odds were made. Plus, Oklahoma suffered a blown call at the hands of referees in the Oregon came. Despite that, they managed to win the Big 12 Championship in dramatic fashion.

With the Fiesta Bowl odds, Boise State put up some gaudy numbers as well to reach the championship game. It held the 2nd most potent offense in the country and scored more than 35 all by twice against San Jose State and Wyoming. However, Oklahoma was really good on defense in 2007, presenting a tough match up. All in all, the Fiesta Bowl game was between two high performing teams worthy of a shot.
