An Amer­i­can Thor­ough­bred race, the Mon­mouth Cup is held every year at Mon­mouth Park in Ocean­port, New Jer­sey. Open to horses of three years and above, the race is run on the dirt at a dis­tance of over one-eighth miles.

Started in 1977 at the Mead­ow­lands Race­track, this race was known as Mead­ow­lands Cup till 2010, after which it was moved to Mon­mouth Park. In the begin­ning, the race was run at a dis­tance of one-fourth miles, which was changed to its cur­rent dis­tance in 1990.
