The  San  Fran­cisco  Giants com­pleted a three-game sweep of Los Ange­les with a 2–0 win, cour­tesy to Edgar Renteria’s two-run triple and Matt Cain’s 7 2/3 shutout innings Sunday.

The win gave Cain his elu­sive first suc­cess after eight losses in 15 starts against the Dodgers. He scat­tered just four hits and a walk, while fan­ning seven to improve to 9–8 this sea­son. More­over, Brian Wil­son marked his 31st save.

Clay­ton Ker­shaw (10–6) gave two runs on six hits and four walks in seven innings, in his first start as he served five-game sus­pen­sion for hit­ting Giants out­fielder Aaron Rowand. The only runs in the sixth innings came from Rente­ria, as he drove in Pat Bur­rell and Aaron Rowand.

The Giants have won 21 of their last 27 games, and are presently lead­ing the wild card race with the second-best record in the NL.
