End of a Fed-Era at Wimbledon

For the sec­ond day run­ning, the ten­nis world came to a stop with another Wim­ble­don leg­end, and arguably the best player on the planet, crash­ing out of the tournament.

After Venus Williams’ sud­den exit on Tues­day, it was the turn of none other than Roger Fed­erer. Tomas Berdych, the Czech No.12 seed, who had defeated Fed­erer in Miami ear­lier this year, took him out in 4 sets, 6–4, 3–6, 6–1, 6–4. The fact is that Fed­erer looked sus­cep­ti­ble from the begin­ning of the tour­na­ment as he barely defeated a num­ber of unknown play­ers and looked rather ordi­nary in this match as well. After the exit of World No.1 Fed­erer, Nadal auto­mat­i­cally has become the bet­ting favorite to win this year’s Wimbledon.

In other action, Ser­ena Williams had to bat­tle hard against Petra Kvi­tova to make it to her sixth Wim­ble­don final, where she will meet Vera Zvonareva who will be play­ing her first Grand Slam final.

Rafael Nadal meets Andy Mur­ray in the first semi­fi­nal match, while Novak Djokovic will play the giant killer Tomas Berdych. Lines­Maker has the bet­ting odds on Nadal at –160 against Mur­ray in their matchup. In the women’s final, Ser­ena is a clear favorite with odds of –700, while her oppo­nent for the next match, Zvonareva is at –450.
