NHL Bet­ting: The NHL’s North­east Con­fer­ence
The NHL’s North­east Con­fer­ence is very sim­i­lar to that of Baseball’s East­ern Divi­sions and the NBA’s cen­tral divi­sions. Full of his­tory and teams whose his­to­ries date back almost a cen­tury, the con­fer­ence is a melt­ing pot of teams that have been around for years and of those added dur­ing the ram­pant expan­sion years of the 60s and 90s. As one of the “orig­i­nal six” teams in the NHL, the Boston Bru­ins are steeped in a his­tory and pride that few other teams can claim. As the first Amer­i­can NHL team and the rea­son the NHL expanded into the US, the Bru­ins were a pow­er­house among the league’s best until World War II dec­i­mated the fran­chise. Founded in 1970 dur­ing the mas­sive expan­sion of the NHL to keep up with the grow­ing WHL, the Buf­falo Sabres are a peren­nial con­tender and pow­er­house in today’s NHL. Hav­ing never won the Stan­ley cup though, the Sabres are still a rel­a­tively untested team in terms of their cham­pi­onship caliber.

The Mon­treal Cana­di­ens are one of NHL betting’s favorites, espe­cially if you live in Canada. The Cana­di­ens have been around since 1909, even 8 years before the NHL was founded with them as one of the first four teams. They stuck around through the rough years of Depres­sion and World War II and were one of the Orig­i­nal Six, and have won the Stan­ley Cup 24 times in their 98 years. The Ottawa Sen­a­tors are actu­ally a rel­a­tively new team, formed in 1992 as an expan­sion team. How­ever, there was an Ottawa Sen­a­tors team as long ago as 1893 and as one of the four found­ing NHL teams, the Sen­a­tors name is as old as hockey itself. In their 15 years since expan­sion, the Sen­a­tors have been con­tenders many times but have yet to win a Con­fer­ence title or Stan­ley Cup. This year how­ever, NHL bet­ting has them at the num­ber one spot, poised to knock off some of the year’s best, such as Buffalo.

As the sec­ond most win­ning team of all time in the NHL with 13 Stan­ley Cups, the Toronto Maple Leafs are also one of the first four teams from 1917 and one of the “Orig­i­nal Six” dur­ing the war years. His­tor­i­cally and in fan base, the Maple Leafs are a sym­bol of NHL hockey.

And so it is that the North­east Divi­sion in the NHL is one of the most impor­tant and old­est divi­sions in sport with three of the Orig­i­nal Six and two of the three orig­i­nal 1917 teams.
