This week­end the 2011 Chase for the Cup rolls into Dover for the 2011 AAA 400 at Dover Inter­na­tional Speedway. Jim­mie John­son dom­i­nated this race in 2009 and again in 2010 win­ning the pole and lead­ing the most laps on his way to Vic­tory Lane. John­son comes into the 2011 AAA 400 tenth in points 29 mark­ers behind leader Tony Stew­art. Jim­mie needs a strong fin­ish this week if he is going to make a run at his sixth Championship. I wouldn’t bet against him.

U.S.’s Young Reaches Thailand Open Semis

BANGKOK —Don­ald Young reached his sec­ond semi­fi­nal of the year bybeat­ing Go Soeda of Japan 6–1, 6–2 Fri­day at the Thai­land Open. Young, who is ranked No. 55, also reached the semi­fi­nals last month inWash­ing­ton, but he has yet to make a final. He will next face second-seeded GaelMon­fils of France, who defeated Jarkko Niem­inem of Fin­land 7–5, 7–6 (4) inanother quar­ter­fi­nal match. NFL Gives L.A. Viewers a Break on Exciting Endings

Sunday’s thrilling Raiders-Bills game was tele­vised in Los Ange­les on KCBS — right up until the most thrilling part, when view­ers were shifted from the great Raiders-Bills end­ing to three min­utes of com­mer­cials, fol­lowed by kick­off of the Chargers-Patriots game. It wasn’t quite as bad as the Heidi Game, but for fans who wanted to see the end­ing of a great game, it was pretty bad. And now the NFL has seen the error of its ways. Troicki, Baghdatis Reach Malaysian Semis

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia —Vik­tor Troicki beat Dmitry Tur­sunov of Rus­sia6–4, 6–4 on Fri­day to reach the Malaysian Open semifinals. The second-seeded Serb failed to serve out the match at 5–2 in the sec­ondset but held on for vic­tory at Putra Sta­dium. Ear­lier this year, Troicki reachedthe final in Syd­ney and the semi­fi­nals in Rot­ter­dam, but lost both. Vince Young Impostor Doesn’t Look Like Vince Young

The Prince George’s County Police Depart­ment has released the mug shot of Stephan Pittman, the man who was arrested on felony fraud charges today for imper­son­at­ing Eagles backup quar­ter­back Vince Young. See­ing his mug shot, I can only assume Pittman was not a very suc­cess­ful Vince Young impersonator. The bald­ing Pittman is obvi­ously older than the 28-year-old Young, and in a video of Pittman being brought into cus­tody he looks shorter and pudgier than the 6-foot-5, 232-pound Young. Prior to Pittman’s arrest, Young said his impos­tor had received money from peo­ple... 

Brady Starts Second Decade as Pats Starter

Tom Brady has said that he wants to play 10 more years.  As sev­eral of you have pointed out, Fri­day marked the 10-year anniver­sary of his arrival on the NFL scene. On Sep­tem­ber 23, 2001, Jets line­backer Mo Lewis applied a lung-damaging hit to Drew Bled­soe.  Brady took over while Bled­soe healed, and the career of one of the great­est play­ers in NFL his­tory was launched. Sharapova Withdraws From China Open

TOKYO —Maria Shara­pova has pulled out of the China Open after injur­ingher left ankle at the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo. Shara­pova, cur­rently sec­ond in the world rank­ings, was not in Friday’s drawfor the China Open begin­ning Sat­ur­day in Beijing. She twisted her left ankle while serv­ing in the first set of Thursday’squar­ter­fi­nal against Petra Kvi­tova.
