Oregon goes with special uni for Rose Bowl appearance
Posted by Ben Kercheval on December 27, 2011, 4:21 PM EST
Last week, Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema said the Badgers would be sporting ever-so-slightly altered uniforms for the 2012 Rose Bowl against Oregon. As it turned out, “slightly” meant rose petal designs drawn into the numbers of UW’s jersey.
While that’s hardly a radical move – you’re not going to find Wisconsin tampering too much with tradition – Oregon has once again come up with a new design for the Rose Bowl that looks like it was inspired by government-classified cases in Area 51.
Or too many sci-fi movies.

Doesn’t matter what the uniform looks like. What matters is who is wearing it, and the heart and soul of the player…. Uniforms don’t wins games, they only impress young kids. If a recruit picks a school to go to for academic reason, or [picks a school to play for as a student athlere based on the unitform, then they are not going to college for the right reasons. At USC, we don’t give a darn about any team’s unis. USC doesn’t need pro-combat unis to play better or to impress others. USC has heritage & tradition, style, class, and the best football coaching staff in college. It’s about the players and their coach’s that make for a great team, not silly, fly by night uniform changes. Besides, the only reason Oregon can change uniforms, like a 14 year old girl changes her 1st date dress & her emotions, is due to the huge amount of money Phil Knight invests, uh , er, donates, to the athletic department. Not a problem with it, but you must see it as it is…. that’s all. Oregon’s uni changes didn’t help when they played Boise State, Ohio State, Auburn, LSU, nor USC… so, what makes y’all think it’ll help against Wisconsin. As a Pac-12 fan, I’m rooting for Oregon to win the Rose Bowl this time…. if they don’t, then again, another downer for that program as they can’t close out the big one, as Oregon has yet to do. This will be Oregon’s Swan Song game, because next year, USC will take the Pac-12 Championship and head off to the BcS Championship Game….. Oregon = “oh-we’re-gone”…. See ya. Been a nice ride for y’all, but it’s time for the true Pac-12 Champions with USC, who beat both Oregon and UCLA decisively, to take the lead in 2012 and beyond. Enough of the fly-by-night program.
