NCAA Football Betting: Auburn Beats Oregon in BCS Championship Game
No. 2 Auburn registered a 22–19 victory over the No. 1 Oregon Ducks on Monday, courtesy of Wes Byrum who scored on a 19-yard field goal in the last minute to give the Tigers the National Championship.
Attracting around 60% of the NCAA football betting action, the Auburn Tigers, with college football lines at +1, were the favorites against Oregon among LinesMaker bettors, if not the oddmakers. Auburn gave the majority of bettors a chance to celebrate as it defeated the point favorite Oregon.
Michael Dyer kicked a 37-yard run, the winning kick of the BCS championship, to the Oregon 23-yard line in the last 2 minutes.
Byrum spilt the uprights four plays later, as the Tigers (14–0) claimed its first national title after a wait of more than 50 years.
Cam Newton went 20-of-34 passing for 265 yards with two touchdowns and an interception for Auburn. He rushed for 65 yards on 22 carries. Dyer completed 143 yards on 22 rushes in the win.
Darron Thomas completed 27-of-40 passes through the air for 363 yards with a pair of touchdowns for the Ducks (12–1). However, he was intercepted twice in the game.
Thomas scored on a touchdown in the last 2:36 minutes of the game and helped Oregon to tie the game 19–19 by connecting with Jeff Maehl in the end zone on a 2-point conversion.
