No. 2 Auburn reg­is­tered a 22–19 vic­tory over the No. 1 Ore­gon Ducks on Mon­day, cour­tesy of Wes Byrum who scored on a 19-yard field goal in the last minute to give the Tigers the National Championship.

Attract­ing around 60% of the NCAA foot­ball bet­ting action, the Auburn Tigers, with col­lege foot­ball lines at +1, were the favorites against Ore­gon among Lines­Maker bet­tors, if not the odd­mak­ers. Auburn gave the major­ity of bet­tors a chance to cel­e­brate as it defeated the point favorite Oregon.

Michael Dyer kicked a 37-yard run, the win­ning kick of the BCS cham­pi­onship, to the Ore­gon 23-yard line in the last 2 minutes.

Byrum spilt the uprights four plays later, as the Tigers (14–0) claimed its first national title after a wait of more than 50 years.

Cam New­ton went 20-of-34 pass­ing for 265 yards with two touch­downs and an inter­cep­tion for Auburn. He rushed for 65 yards on 22 car­ries. Dyer com­pleted 143 yards on 22 rushes in the win.

Dar­ron Thomas com­pleted 27-of-40 passes through the air for 363 yards with a pair of touch­downs for the Ducks (12–1). How­ever, he was inter­cepted twice in the game.

Thomas scored on a touch­down in the last 2:36 min­utes of the game and helped Ore­gon to tie the game 19–19 by con­nect­ing with Jeff Maehl in the end zone on a 2-point conversion.
