With an immense improve­ment in their defense, the Wolf­pack is delighted at its 3–0 best sea­son start since a decade ago when Phillip Rivers was at quarterback.

Jay Smith and Cur­tis Under­wood Jr. reg­is­tered first-half touch­down catches. N.C. State got a 14–0 lead in the first quar­ter, after Mustafa Greene scored on a 31-yard run. Wil­son and the Wolf­pack defense galvonized Zach Col­laros, and made sure that the Wolf­pack never lagged behind.

Wil­son fin­ished 26 of 40 passes, and with just 7½ min­utes left, he posted an 8 yard touch­down hit to Tay­lor Gen­try to make it 30–7. Run­ning for 33 yards while escap­ing the rush against the Bearcats (1–2), Wil­son ensured that the team stacked nearly 500 total yards.

Cincin­nati, who repeat­edly won Big East titles and man­aged to reach the Sugar Bowl last sea­son, started with a defeat at Fresno State and also lost top receiver Vidal Hazel­ton to a knee injury. The things won’t be easy for the Bearcats as they play No. 7 Okla­homa next weekend.

Attract­ing more than 58% of the bet­ting action, North Car­olina State (-2) was the clear favorite over Cincin­nati among Lines­Maker bet­tors. They thrilled the bet­tors by defeat­ing Cincinnati.
