NCAA Basketball Betting: Poor Prospects for UConn
This season, the University of Connecticut Huskies are likely to finish close to the bottom of the 16-team Big East. Coming off a woeful 18–16 season, UConn has lost three of their top four scorers, Jerome Dyson, Stanley Robinson and Gavin Edwards.
In terms of an NCAA basketball betting perspective, LinesMaker has UConn at 50–1 to win the 2011 Men’s NCAA Basketball Tournament. With betting lines at 9–2, Duke is the top favorite to win the tournament, followed by Michigan St (6–1) and North Carolina (10–1).
The Stamford Advocate reportedly said that Jim Calhoun’s team was picked to finish 10th in a preseason poll. This season the team has more than half underclassmen, with six freshmen on the UConn roster. The Huskies are highly dependent on veteran Kemba Walker, who is going to lead the young talents like Jeremy Lamb and Roscoe Smith.
Pittsburgh, earning 12 out of 16 first place votes, was selected to finish first according to the preseason poll. Villanova was picked to finish second followed by Syracuse, Georgetown and West Virginia.
