Storm Overpowers Dream to Claim WNBA Title

The Seat­tle Storm suc­ceeded in com­plet­ing an unde­feated post­sea­son march and ousted the Atlanta Dream, 87–84 on Thurs­day. The Storm won the WNBA title for the sec­ond time after a three-game sweep in the finals.

The Seat­tle offense was well bal­anced under the guid­ance of Swin Cash, who scored 18 points. Mean­while, Seat­tle pre­vailed over 25 points by Atlanta’s Angel McCoughtry.

McCoughtry attempted to assist the Dream by scor­ing nine points in the last 2:30. How­ever, in the last 6 sec­onds, McCoughtry and Coco Miller missed 3-pointers, even as Seat­tle went on to cel­e­brate. Ear­lier in the Dream’s East­ern Con­fer­ence finals, McCoughtry had set a WNBA play­off record by scor­ing 42 points ral­ly­ing Atlanta to a win over the New York Liberty.

Seat­tle had a stel­lar per­for­mance in all its seven post­sea­son games, win­ning all to claim their sec­ond WNBA title, the first one came in 2004 championship.

As far as the sports bet­ting is con­cerned, Atlanta was a 3.5 point favorite over Seat­tle to win the WNBA cham­pi­onship. Given that more than 56% of Lines­Maker bet­tors wagered on their side, Atlanta failed to live up to the expec­ta­tions of many bet­tors, los­ing to Seat­tle once again.
