Storm Overpowers Dream to Claim WNBA Title
The Seattle Storm succeeded in completing an undefeated postseason march and ousted the Atlanta Dream, 87–84 on Thursday. The Storm won the WNBA title for the second time after a three-game sweep in the finals.
The Seattle offense was well balanced under the guidance of Swin Cash, who scored 18 points. Meanwhile, Seattle prevailed over 25 points by Atlanta’s Angel McCoughtry.
McCoughtry attempted to assist the Dream by scoring nine points in the last 2:30. However, in the last 6 seconds, McCoughtry and Coco Miller missed 3-pointers, even as Seattle went on to celebrate. Earlier in the Dream’s Eastern Conference finals, McCoughtry had set a WNBA playoff record by scoring 42 points rallying Atlanta to a win over the New York Liberty.
Seattle had a stellar performance in all its seven postseason games, winning all to claim their second WNBA title, the first one came in 2004 championship.
As far as the sports betting is concerned, Atlanta was a 3.5 point favorite over Seattle to win the WNBA championship. Given that more than 56% of LinesMaker bettors wagered on their side, Atlanta failed to live up to the expectations of many bettors, losing to Seattle once again.
