Koellerer to Appeal Ban for Match-Fixing
LAUSANNE, Switzerland —Tennis player Daniel Koellerer will appeal his lifetime ban for match-fixing at the highest court in world sports next month.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport says Koellerer will challenge his sanction on Nov. 28–29 against the men’s and women’s tours, International Tennis Federation and the sport’s Grand Slam Committee. The tennis bodies collectively set up the Tennis Integrity Unit which banned the 28-year-old Austrian in May.
Koellerer was the first player to get a life ban for corruption after being found guilty of three violations between October 2009 and July 2010.
His ranking peaked at No. 55 in October 2009.
